Valentine's Outfit Fail

21.2.14

We were told at work to wear either pink or red.  Regardless that pink is my favorite color in the world, I don't really own that much of it wardrobe wise.  And ever since that fourth of July picture was taken at work last year in my red dress, I have avoided red.

It was obviously not my color.  Thanks to everyone who decided to let me walk around looking like an idiot.  Oh, well there could have also been some massive water retention going on; that was the day a coworker and I decided to have a water drinking contest.  And the day a gallon and a half of water was consumed.  I recommend that to no one.  Unless you want to feel like hell for the rest of the evening.

Super hydrated, though.

Anyway, on to the outfit.

where ya goin, Laura?

because why take yourself too seriously?

skirt: Francescas // tank & cardi: Kohl's // tights and shoes:  DSW

I thought the high-waisted trend was super cute.  Until I tried it on, and it made already gigantic hips look even bigger.  I also had a pervy driver tell me that he didn't know my legs were so long until I wore this skirt to work.  Guess which skirt will not be making another appearance at work?!?  You got it!!

Have I mentioned that I really want to see the Legos movie?  I'm pretty sure that's in store for my weekend!  Hope everyone has a good one!!

More Outfit Fails

14.2.14

I'm starting to wonder if I could turn this into a theme.

You know, like the throw back Thursdays, what I wore Wednesdays, and my personal favorite, the Sunday Song.

But instead of all those amazing bloggers who are gorgeous no matter what they're wearing, always have the most amazing clothes, and can make crappy light look "the hour," I would just focus on how bad my pictures are.

I think I'm coming up with something here.

Go with me, here.

I can't figure out if I'm just non photogenic, or if I actually just can't pull off the outfits.  I even did a fairly simple one in just a white sweater and jeans, and somehow I still look ridiculous.

But I am here to share my ridiculousness, and my possibly new idea.  Failure Fridays, because why would you want to feel good on a Friday?!

Sexiest car on the street goes to that little green thing coming up on the background...

Maybe one day, I'll learn the over the shoulder model thing?

I'm gonna just admit that I totally loved my hair this day, and am scared to admit that I'll probably never get it to look like this again.

Just oh Lord.

I hope everyone has a happy Valentine's Day and that your outfits don't come out as miserable failures!

Keep the Fails A' Comin'

7.2.14

It really irks me when I think I have an awesome outfit on, and I really want to document it, and then when I do, I see the pictures, and I'm all like damn....

That looks awful!

These girls who can put on whatever they want and look amazing in it, and have no shame posting it to the interwebs are my heroes.

Because, even though I look like crap, these pictures are still going to grace this blog.  And you want to know why?  The shirt is still awesome, and it shouldn't be punished just because it's owner can't take a picture to save her life.

Crazy outtake with Stell dog ruining the photo.  Or maybe I am?  yeah, for real.  she's the cute one!

The back of this Charming Charlie top is what makes the shirt.  I can't wait to pair it with a bralette in the summer, but to keep it work appropriate, I threw a cami under it, paired it with a pair of ankle length black pants and a pair of open toed wedges.

One day I hope I can look back and laugh at my own ridiculousness.

But I really loved the shirt damn it!

I hope everyone's weekend is filled with bird-covered shirts!

That Time I Tried to Do an Outfit Post, but Bombed Because I'm not a Model

5.12.13

Need proof?

I feel like I've been putting up an awful lot of awkward photos of me recently, so what the hell?

Here's a few more.

Outside my house.

By my Auburn wreath.

In terrible lighting.

Big nose and all.

Plus once I got to thinking about it, I couldn't remember where I got half of the crap I was wearing, and my friend gave me that dress because she let me wear it one night and told me I looked better in it than her.

So there ya have it folks.  Probably the one and only fashion post that I'll attempt ever.  You're welcome.

Garment - Kansas City

22.5.13

While in Kansas City, I went to heaven.

It was a placed called Garment.

It combined two of my most favorite things:  clothing and alcohol.

It was a really cute boutique shop, with a bar in the middle.  The people that owned it were so sweet and helpful.  I also couldn't leave without bringing back a few cute tops.  I probably could have bought everything in there and been completely okay with it.

They had this cute little chalkboard trash can outside of their store.  The two above were my favorites.

Next time we're in Kansas City, we will definitely be visiting again.

Holiday Sparkle

10.12.11

ok, so i love glitter. i love sparkles. i love anything that is shiny and pretty.

it is who i am. love me or not, i cannot keep my hands off anything that sparkles.

which is perfect for the holidays. gorgeous holiday dress parties? glitter please! new years? what better day to wear an entire dress made of glitter/sequins/sparkly things?

so i rummaged through pinterest and came up with the most beautiful things that i want. any of these would make fabulous christmas presents, thank you very much!

i love all of these dresses. seriously? not a single one i wouldn't wear.

i adore the little white one in the top left corner.

so pretty! her eyelashes look great too.

what's better than plain sparkles? kate spade sparkles!

i like how these feel a little more rustic than the other dresses. rustic sparkles? of course. i could wrap a huge white cashmere cape around these and some booties? yep yep, i'm in.

i am only two posts away from the big 300th post. i'm glad that i've done this blog for so long. it is entertaining to go back so long and laugh at how much i've changed, and how much i've done in such a short period.

there are big changes coming for me. again. i am excited.

Wednesday Ramblings

7.9.11

  • I had to find out through a friend that I talk to maybe once every 4-5 months that my best friend from high school is engaged. She was in my wedding. That was the last time I ever talked to her. I'm not going to lie when I say that stung quite a bit.
  • Ever since Tropical Storm Lee decided to dump his rain here on Bham, it's been quite pleasant outside. Like no hotter than 71 degrees. It is perfect weather for soup, grilled cheese and a night in with Bridget Jones.
  • Tomorrow is wear your jersey/t-shirt day at work. I am so excited to wear my Aaron Rodgers jersey. Why you may ask? Umm, Saints vs. Packers tomorrow night!
  • Okay, I know that for a girl, I get way more excited about football than I should, but what can I say? My dad wanted a boy....
  • I've really been slacking on the running lately. I think I'm giving up my dream of the half-marathon and am going to focus on work and getting ready for cosmetology school.
  • I saw the most adorable pair of boots at DSW. Good thing I have a $10 off coupon! Shopping this weekend!
  • Oh and please let me know if looking like this will ever be possible....because I'm ready...

Maybe in a couple of months, my hair will grow out to this...and in a few weeks, I'm hoping to be this blonde!

Gorg dress. Like it needs to find its way into my closet pronto!

Hope everyone's had a great Wednesday!

So Close!

29.8.11

It is so close to football season, that I can taste it! T-minus 5 days (till Auburn football) and counting!

Nothing, and I mean nothing beats Auburn football! Packers come in a close second, but hey, I graduated from this school! It is such a part of me. I wanted to share some pictures of ultimate tailgates, plus the gorgeousness of the university itself.

Trust me, there will be some originals this year, now that I know how to use that crazy camera of mine!!

I am so excited for Saturday's game. I mean, come on! Defending National Champions?!! I can't wait to see what our new tunnel song is. I can't wait to see Trotter (QB) in action, and to see how Dyer (RB) is going to be this year. I'm completely sure he's going to be amazing.

I can already smell the chick-fil-a breakfast and the bourbon and diet dr. pepper. I can feel the mini's (shhhh) being snuck into the game, and the itch of the face tattoo. OMG. I can not wait. Saturday, hurry up!!!

Thing I Love: Zara Clothing

25.3.11

The hubs introduced me to something amazing the other day: Zara Clothing** Can you say amazing? That and the fact that my husband, the boy who hates clothes shopping, and hates that my clothes runneth over in our shared closet, was in fact, letting me in on a secret world that I had no idea about.

I'll take one of you....

and you.....

and you....

and you.....

and you are quite possibly worth the Atlanta trip all your own....

The thing about this drool-worthy shop...they do not ship to the United States. That is their whole platform...you must go into a shop to purchase all the delightful goodies if you live within the middle child boundaries of North America. The closest ones to Birmingham? Lenox Square and Perimeter Mall in Atlanta. I will just keep telling myself it's only 2.5 hours away from awesomeness.

**I could quite possibly be the only person on the planet who didn't know about this place. Sorry if you are already in the cool club.

Cravings

30.1.11

this whole no shopping thing has done a number on me. i've almost made it through the whole month of january! i am so proud...and so is my wallet! but since i am not allowed to buy anything, i've done a whole lot of internet window shopping. here are a few things i am loving, but can't buy (not like i would anyway; i can't afford a thing from jcrew). and..i haven't had a single french fry yet!!

i am still loving colorblock...especially these two colors put together (don't mind the shoes either!)

studded sweater? can you see the drool?

sweet and simple blouse. would wear this bare-shouldered at night, and under a fitted suit jacket for day.
