Happy Mardi Gras everyone! I can't wait to post all of the awesomeness of this Mardi Gras, but that will have to come at a different date! Birmingham has a parade! Go figure! And I've decorated the house appropriately; will be making King Cake and drinking Hurricanes.
But for now, I'm going to tell you about an awesome new(er) place in Birmingham. This town never ceases to amaze me . What I do admire about this place is that they are actually trying. They're trying to make Birmingham relevant, and they're trying to move more people back downtown.
Carrigans is a great little pub house with local brews, fancy "hipster" food, and in an awesome location right off Morris Avenue.
We've seen the place get super busy early, so we decided to go right after work. We were able to walk right in and get a seat at the bar. The place has an amazing patio that looks super fun during beautiful weather.
We both order a few beers. I go with their cheeseburger and fries (which was incredible) and B got the sweetbread po'boy. The service was awesome, and the food was awesome. Definitely going back.
This burger... no words. So good. The fries were good and when you ask for ranch (because what self-respecting Southerner doesn't put ranch on everything), they bring you their "hipster ranch," which is amazing.
Definitely need to put it on your list of places to go in Birmingham.

THAT is so totally awesome. Love the brick, love the tap truck, love the photography. Great job on covering the place. I loved what you said about the city is really trying to be relevant. Came in via the Alabama Women Bloggers.
