The weather on Saturday was perfect. The sunshine was out; it wasn't too hot, and there was a slight breeze blowing. So we headed to Cochon Butcher for lunch, headed out to St. Charles for some of the strongest daiquiri's in New Orleans (and cheapest), then took a ferry to the island of Algiers.
We walked our way to Butcher, we were had some duck pastrami, pork belly sandwiches and some Abita. After our amazing lunch, we decided it was time for a real drink. And I remembered from Lindsey's bachelorette where there were these really strong drinks. It is a slight hole in the wall with a purple door on St. Charles; not too far down. I'm not sure what the name is, or if there even is a name, but if you are walking down St .Charles and see a daiquiri place with a purple door on a corner, you've probably found it.
We made our way down to Riverwalk with our daiquiri's in hand, got serenaded by the Riverwalk band, and then headed through the mall toward the ferry.
Once on the ferry, we were headed to Algiers, where we met some of the greatest people we have ever met there . We stumbled into a local bar where they were holding their Fantasy Football draft. While drinking our beers, we met a fantastic couple who we walked to for about an hour. It was then that a complete stranger came up to us, gave us Saints/Texans tickets for the preseason game that night....for free!! We couldn't believe our luck.
Algiers was fun. This bar was owned by a Brit and his wife. It was a great neighborhood bar, and everyone knew everyone else. And they were very friendly toward newcomers. All in all, we will definitely travel back on that ferry to hit up this place again.
