NOLA pics

29.11.10

since it's taken forever for me to grab the pics from Bennett's memory card, i finally got them. this was my first endeavor with the Nikon. granted the light meter wasn't working, and it's not like I knew that or anything...anyway. i love New Orleans. i have a massive love affair with this city, and want to go pretty much every weekend. and it's not Bourbon Street and the drinking and the beads, it's so much more than that. it's the old houses, the food, the music...everything. if it wasn't so damn expensive to live there, i would totally move. last time we were there, we even caught a second-line parade after the wedding. this was not our video, but i wanted to show you what i'm talking about.

Here's some of our pics from the trip...

best beignets and hot chocolate in town. you can buy the mix at a ton of places around new orleans, including at the place. there's usually a long line, so make sure you get there early.

Picnik

28.11.10

i cannot believe i didn't know about this little website before. i have been playing with it all day! it's a neat photo website that lets you black and white, crop, have fun effects, add borders, etc. i could play on this thing all day. below are a few examples of the funness i've been having . i know you have seen some of these pictures before, but they're different!!

i mean, so much fun right?!!! most of the time, i like the look of all natural, but sometimes it's fun to actually see what your wedding photograper did to make only your face in focus and the rest blurry. this is probably a poor man's lightroom or photoshop, but since those are expensive, and this is, well not, i'll stick to this one for now.
www.picnik.com --- go have fun.

Iron Bowl 2010

27.11.10

While it's no secret that I was stuck at work during the Iron Bowl, I do have to say, I love my Auburn Tigers! I listened to the game on the radio and it was just as intense...then got to go home to my loving hubs (who recorded it for me!) and Olaf and watch it! They were so sweet for watching it again (oh I'm sure they minded watching that amazing game!). So anyway, a sweet sweet victory...28-27 in what they are saying as the biggest comeback ever.

Here are some sweet shots pulled off the ole internet:

(2nd picture taken from presnapread.com)

There is nothing greater than having a team to root for and loving them when they do well. It also says a lot to me when someone can be a good sport even when their team loses. I know quite a few people that trash talk all season long and then contribute our wins to cheating. Unless you have the text message or recording, then I don't want to hear it.

I BELIEVE IN AUBURN AND LOVE IT!

And since the sky was so pretty last night while I was sitting at work, I did manage to get a few pretty shots. It turned orange as Auburn was making "The Comeback!"

To Corporate: I'm available for your all your photography needs. Thanks.

5 Things I'm Loving

23.11.10

I am having an awful week. Plain and simple. Not only do I have to miss the Iron Bowl because for some reason, it's necessary to be at work until 5:30 on Friday, but I am not having Thanksgiving with my family and I miss them.
So here are a few things I'm loving at the moment....

5. My niche in the bedroom. Black and white photos of me and my parents at the wedding. Check. Cool mirror display. Check. Fake flowers. Check. (Please ignore the lint roller which I know you can see. I'm sorry. I suck as a photographer.)

4. Bottle of red wine. My best friend after this week.

3. Impromptu photo shoot with the dog. Oh yes, I know she looks better than me.

2. My super new fun purple dress. I love the ruffles. My Thanksgiving day dress.

1. My OPI dark red. Feels so wintery. I love it.

So while I'm stuck making the deviled eggs for the meal (let's face it, they are the best ever), I'm thinking of all these things to make me smile.

Texas-size Food

18.11.10

Yesterday I was riding home, to let the dog out and Bennett calls. He's in Texas this week, and he says he has the biggest plate of nachos that he's ever seen right in front of him for lunch. BBQ nachos at that. So, then I get this....

Obviously not kidding about the gigantic-ness of this plate of nachos. Needless to say since I was eating hot dogs and chips, this made me incredibly jealous. I mean, perfect nachos. Look at the BBQ and cheese just falling off the plate....oh, I'm hungry!

And then he calls to tell me that he got pulled over for talking on the phone in a school zone. His hotel is located in a school zone and the police got him as soon as he pulled out of the parking lot. Told him he could talk on his phone on the road all day long as long as he isn't in a school zone.

Funny Texas.

Just Because you Change your Last Name...

16.11.10

How great is this?!! Apparently the groom wanted a houndstooth cake, because, well he's an Alabama fan. But the bride usually pays for the cake, and she got the last laugh on this one!

I love it!!

ATL Bound!

14.11.10

Congrats to my AU tigers! They're 2o10 SEC West Champs! Which means.....although it would be incredible (and a national championship birth) to beat Alabama, it doesn't even matter!

But thanks to Bennett's friends, Trent and Kelley, we got to go to the game yesterday, and it was amazing. It was amazing to see everyone backing Cam through all of this mess. It really is great to be an Auburn Tiger!

Yes, yes, there is a crazy Auburn fan in that tree...if you can see him. I promise, he's there.

Biggest Tiger Walk ever!!! Everyone there to support Cam!

The boys: Bogster, the hubs, and Olaf (from left to right).

Bogie! Ladies, he is attractive, smart and single!!

Me and Bogs in front of Jordan-Hare.

Super CAM!!!

Bennett and Trent (great tailgate! best buffalo chicken dip known to man!)

Outside Jordan-Hare getting ready to go in. I really like this shot for some reason.

Can't really see it, but the students had all orange shakers. So this year they got all blue, all orange and the paper shakers! Lucky student section!!

Inside Jordan-Hare! Such great weather for a late-season game!

pretty! I heart Auburn. I hate that I didn't have my Nikon with me, but I would prefer it not get stepped on and broken (since we knew that everyone in the stadium would be going crazy!)

Can't figure out the sad face...but thought it was cute!

We win!

Trent, Kelley, me and the hubs after the win. Look how full the stadium is! Absolutely nobody left!

Toomers.....before THUGA fans decided to set the tree on fire. Check out all those orbs. I'm thinking about sending this one to "Ghost Adventures" and seeing what they do with it.

Anyway, getting ready to watch the BCS standings show... hopefully all the voters will stop hating ("haters gonna hate," -- Olaf), and vote Auburn number one. Seeing as how Oregon had a terrible game last night.

Even if they're not #1, I still love my tigers!

Give it to me Straight

9.11.10

For as long as I can remember, I have hated my hair. For most of you, this comes as no surprise, hell, I just talked about how much I hated it two posts ago. I usually keep it short, because spending the amount of time that I spend now on my hair used to be unimaginable for me.

But there is one thing that my hair must be, and that is straight. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make those perfect beachy waves or those perfect sexy curls. So I prefer mine voluminous and straight.

So this is what I am asking for for Christmas:

Look at this beautiful beautiful straightener! I have always been in the school of I will just get a cheap one and replace when it breaks. I have a BedHead one now, and it seems to be ok, but I want that sleek shiny look that I get when I leave my hair place. So this is item #1 on my Christmas list.

Sweet Hubs

8.11.10

In honor of Auburn being #2 in the country and Alabama falling to LSU, I'm gonna post a sweet pic of me and the hubs in Auburn, eating at my favorite sub shop, Jimmy Johns.
