2013 Iron Bowl

1.12.13

Usually I don't post on the weekends.

But I don't want to forget the feeling from last night, and I want to make sure that I document it, somehow, even if it is on this little corner of the intra-webs.

Iron Bowl Saturday.  Alabama #1 in the country; Auburn #4.  Auburn big underdog; as always.  The entire game was back and forth until the very end.  Alabama missed a few field goals, every one in that stadium was as loud as it could be.

What seems to be the last play of the game in the fourth quarter has TJ Yeldon running down the sideline.  He appears to run out of bounds as the clock is running out, but Saban and Alabama petition for one more second to be put back on the clock.

Done.

Alabama lines up for a 57 yard field goal.

They miss.

The ball lands right into the arms of Chris Davis.

Who then runs 109 yards to the other end of the field for an Auburn touchdown, winning the Iron Bowl with no seconds left on the clock.

Holy war eagleness.

Best game I have ever watched.

Plus my dad was here.

And they let the fans rush the field.  It will never get old.  Hearing Rod Bramblett's call with Davis running from end zone to end zone, the jokes about how long it takes to beat Bama (1 second), or watching the Auburn fans reactions to the win.

Auburn fans rush the field.

Blurry as all get out, but in case you can't see that, it just says Auburn won and they're awesome.

it was amazing y'all.  Just amazing.  Definitely the best Iron Bowl ever.  I'm so jealous of everyone that got to be there.

But getting to spend it with my dad made it even better.

War Damn Eagle, my friends, War Damn Eagle.

Packers Game - Baltimore Edition

4.11.13

Yes, I know that I am way far behind in this update, but you know?  Sometimes in life, you just get far behind.

The game was a little rainy and a little chilly, but the walk to the stadium in Baltimore is pretty cool.  You get to walk by the Orioles baseball stadium, and then up through their walkway, which I think they call the Walk of Champions, but I can't remember.  No pictures, because I was too busy having fun being a Packer fan, and jamming out to a street band.

Our seats were in the upper deck, and we were engrossed by a lot of other Packer fans as well.  It's always so nice to be a traveling Packer fan, because you know that you will never be alone.  It's got to be one of the best traveling teams in the country; plus getting to hear a chant of Go Pack Go in an opposing stadium is awesome.

The Packers did end up winning the game 19-17.  I still have a winning record when it comes to seeing the Packers!  Let's hope I can keep it going!!

Football Season

10.9.13

I wasn't a big fan of the prompt today for Blogtember, sooo, I'm not going to do it.  Not that I didn't miss last Friday or yesterday or anything.  Otherwise, I might be a little upset.

But I haven't kept up with it, so I'm not, and I can talk about football, and that's way cooler.

It's again, no secret to anyone who knows me and/or has read a past post of mine that I love football season and everything doing with it; the navy dresses with cowboy boots and orange jewelry; the bourbon and cokes at 9am, chick-fil-a breakfast, and of course, actually enjoying the game of football.

My dad taught me pretty much everything I know about football, and for a girl, I grasp the concept of the game pretty well.

I've been trying to learn more specifics about the game, specifically certain plays and how they're run and what they look like when they're being called.

This was the first year in a long time that I've missed the Auburn home opener; I had to work that morning, and it just wasn't in the cards.  I was pretty heartbroken over it, but had a good time watching it at home.  Even though they almost gave me a heart attack by almost losing.

I'm pretty sure she wanted me to die after all these pictures, but come on?  Shaker and dog?  Not going to pass up that opportunity.

Auburn ended up winning their first two games; my poor Packers were not as lucky.  They lost on another blown ref call (seriously, ref demoted!  No joke!), and it was very sad.

Hopefully they'll play better this week!  Here's to hoping everyone has a happy football season full of W's and bourbon!

Super Bowl Snacks

4.2.13

Ok.  So my team wasn't in the Super Bowl.  The Pack had to take a back seat to the Niners and the Ravens, however, if any of you happened to catch Clay Matthews on the CBS pre game show, ohhh, holy moly.

Gorgeous gorgeous.

Anyway, since my team didn't make it, and we didn't travel to NOLA, the next best thing was to just have food to remind us of all the fun we were missing.  So we decided on on Mississippi Crack Dip and Bayou Brownies plus some yummy Bennett's BBQ nachos.

Mississippi Crack Dip
-  8 oz cream cheese
- 16 oz sour cream
- 8 oz Velveeta cheese, cubed
- 1 lb Italian sausage, cooked and drained.
 - 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onion
- 1/4 tsp curry powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Dash of garlic salt
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
 - Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well
 - Once mixed, transfer to baking dish and bake for 6o minutes.

Serve with crackers, tortilla chips, veggies, or whatever your heart desires.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bayou Brownies
- 1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup butter, melted
- 3 large eggs
- 1 (18 1/4 oz) package yellow cake mix
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 16 oz package powdered sugar.

Directions
- Combine pecans, butter, 1 egg and cake mix
- Stir until well blended.
- Press into bottom of  lightly greased  13x9 inch pan.
- Set aside.
- Combine remaining 2 eggs, cream cheese and powdered sugar in a large bowl.
- Beat at medium speed until smooth
- Pour cream cheese mixture over cake mixture.
- Bake at 325 for 40 minutes or until cheese mixture is set (it took me quite a bit longer than 40 minutes for mine to do this)
-  Let cool completely.

It was super hard to watch the Super Bowl and not have my Packers be in it.    I'm so hoping that next year will be the year for my boos.

I'm obsessed...

17.10.11

Okay. I know. I have been a terrible blogger. I even got harassed by the husband, so you know it's bad.

A couple weeks ago we went to Atlanta. To do what you may ask?

To see the Packers! Ugh, I know. But the chance to see Aaron Rodgers in the flesh? I'll take it. And get this. I found out that his little brother is the quarterback at Vanderbilt. Which is in Nashville. Which is only 3 hours away. And my total in to the Rodgers family.

Umm...kidding. Maybe.

Anyway!! We made the short 2 1/2 trip to the Georgia Dome to see my favorite NFL team. We were only 20 some odd rows up in the end zone. We also went to a great little Irish place that claimed it had the best fish and chips in Atlanta. I'm not sure what other places have them, but they were so good, I really forgot to take the picture.

But enjoy the pictures that I did take!! And I hope that y'all are doing well! I have missed the little bloggy world!!
I am starting to seriously hate the hair. I miss the long-ness.

The fish 'n chips place. Yums.

Clay Matthews' booty. #52 in case you were wondering.

The boys.

There they are again!

And again.

They are now 6-0. Take that Chicago!

Packers Hotness

8.9.11

Ok, so yes, I am a girl. Yes, I loooooove football. BUT. I am still a girl, so for your viewing pleasure, here is some of the hotness that is the Packers team

You are welcome.

These boys definitely make watching football even better. Weren't a Packers fan before? Bet you are now!!

Go Pack Go!

(I promise this is my last post about football for the week)

First Day of Football!!

1.9.11

College football officially begins today! I believe that being Southern means a whole lot more than saying y'all and wearing pearls.

I believe it's fervently supporting your team...(check out these amazing adorable dresses for gameday! I had to shamelessly plug Blue Door Boutique again, because I'm in love with them)

whether your team is winning or losing. I believe it takes a classy southern girl to offer a girl from another school a safety pin or extra sandal because her strap broke on hers.

I believe it's not booing the opponent's team, or drinking so much that you make your date (or anyone else around you) uncomfortable . I like to call it the "happy place!" where you're just a little buzzed, but not completely gone.

I believe it's knowing all the words to the fight song and all the cheers and yelling them proudly at the top of your lungs whether you're five or ninety-five.
And last but not least....the Auburn Creed...

THE AUBURN CREED

I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work. I believe in education, which gives me the knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully. I believe in honesty and truthfulness, without which I cannot win the respect and confidence of my fellow men. I believe in a sound mind, in a sound body and a spirit that is not afraid, and in clean sports that develop these qualities. I believe in obedience to law because it protects the rights of all. I believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with my fellow men and mutual helpfulness and brings happiness for all. I believe in my Country, because it is a land of freedom and because it is my own home, and that I can best serve that country by "doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with my God." And because Auburn men and women believe in these things, I believe in Auburn and love it. -George Petrie (1945)

So here's to a great football season! I'm way too excited for any normal human being!!

So Close!

29.8.11

It is so close to football season, that I can taste it! T-minus 5 days (till Auburn football) and counting!

Nothing, and I mean nothing beats Auburn football! Packers come in a close second, but hey, I graduated from this school! It is such a part of me. I wanted to share some pictures of ultimate tailgates, plus the gorgeousness of the university itself.

Trust me, there will be some originals this year, now that I know how to use that crazy camera of mine!!

I am so excited for Saturday's game. I mean, come on! Defending National Champions?!! I can't wait to see what our new tunnel song is. I can't wait to see Trotter (QB) in action, and to see how Dyer (RB) is going to be this year. I'm completely sure he's going to be amazing.

I can already smell the chick-fil-a breakfast and the bourbon and diet dr. pepper. I can feel the mini's (shhhh) being snuck into the game, and the itch of the face tattoo. OMG. I can not wait. Saturday, hurry up!!!
