365 Nothin....

28.3.11

That's it. I'm done. I quit. I can't take it anymore. Please enjoy the last photo of the god-awful 365 project. Maybe when I have more time and a non-full time job I will be able to devote myself to this more fully.

(this picture from an abandoned convenience store somewhere between cullman, al and boaz, al)

I missed one day last week. And then I missed two...and then I said, well whatever. I don't know how to explain it. Photography become a chore, and it wasn't something I looked forward to doing every day. I forgot my camera at home and I'd get mad at myself, then be forced to grace this blog with the lovely pictures of the James' casa (and all the objects therein), and then you get the dog. Who has had more face time on this blog than anyone I know.

I didn't even think I'd make it to day 93....

Project Nightmare...um, 365

22.3.11

Monday night dinner. Pasta and a glass of red wine.

Oh yeah, that's a can.

I'm gonna blame this picture on the pain pills from the mole surgery. I really thought this was amusing. Really.

My hubs got me flowers on Thursday for being a trooper during surgery without him here. He hearts me.

I can't explain why or what I was doing in this one.

This was lunch on Saturday. Cheddar Cheese Pringles and a Blackened Cherry malt beverage. Thank you Mike's Hard line of awesomeness!

This is our "before" bedroom. All of the stuff is on the bed in order to get to the walls (or do we keep it this way all the time? you will never know!). I will have pictures of the after when it's finished. Which is hopefully this week, because being relocated to the guest room for the week sucks.

I've thought about quitting this thing for a while. It's incredibly frustrating. Like, I feel bad about half these pictures that I posted. I mean when you're taking pictures of a Diet Dr. Pepper can and a gummi bear? I don't think you can sink any lower. Oh I'm sure that I could.....

365 Update

14.3.11

We spent the majority of this past weekend "spring cleaning." We bought some flowers for our pots out front, did a massive clean on the bathroom, and even decided that we're going to trade in our chocolate bedroom paint for something lighter. I will be posting pictures as soon as that process happens. Last time it took a while to paint the bedroom, so it could be a process.
Oh, I was also laterally promoted to Rental Sales Rep (aka RSR), and will now be responsible for making sales calls and trying to get people to rent our trucks, which I'm pretty excited for. So we'll see how it goes.
My smart book pics (aperture practice).

It rained like a mother last Tuesday night.

Hi, more aperture practice. One of these days, I'll get the hang of it. Or maybe my life really does consist of the boring....who knows.

Train tracks in downtown Birmingham.

Cookies at Sweet Peppers in Cullman, AL. Best. Cookies. Ever.

Crazy pup. She loves being on the bed.

Our pink flowers bought at Lowe's this past weekend.

Happy Mardi Gras!!: Homemade Beignets (sort of)

8.3.11

So it's Mardi Gras! If you are Catholic and into Lent, then it actually means something to you, but Mardi Gras to me = beads, beignets, bloody mary's, and king cake. ( I am Christian, just not of the Catholic variety, therefore don't give up anything for Lent). A while ago, Bennett went to New Orleans for an audit, and I asked, since he couldn't bring the real things home from Cafe Du Monde, I asked for the next best thing, the mix!!

On Sunday, we woke up and decided that we might want to put this stuff to use, seeing as how it "expires" (um, not throwing this stuff away after July) soon. So here is what we got. (See how I snuck in Day 79? I'm so sneaky!)

Hello Beignet mix hiding behind my oh-so-stylish green Crate & Barrell bowl!

Follow directions exactly on back. You will use a TON of flour, so don't be too weirded out if the mixture is less than doughy.

Once you submit to knowing that there is going to be a mess, the better off. Granted I'm sure most people actually have a rolling pin (umm, we used an old wine bottle), but there will still be a big flour mess. Don't be stingy on the flour. You will need this A. so it doesn't stick to your hands, and B. Stick to whatever you're rolling the dough out onto.

Throw them in the oil. I let Bennett do this, because I probably would have killed myself.

Throw some powdered sugar on those bad boys and eat them!! Look at those beauties! They don't look exactly like the box, but they are still delicious.

So get your booties to New Orleans, try the real thing, and then grab a box to take home and try to make them yourself!

Day 78

7.3.11

In case you live under a rock (or are not from the South!), Mardi Gras is tomorrow! There will be a post on home-made beignets tomorrow! But for now, revel in all the Mardi Gras goodness that came into this house yesterday... (minus the bloody mary's!)...

Days 73-76

6.3.11

I've had so much going on lately, it's been sort of overwhelming, but I've kept to the 365. Granted most of these (okay, all) of them are from around the house. One of these days while I'm rushing out of the house, I will remember to grab that camera that continues to sit right on the kitchen table where anyone could see it. I've also been really into learning about advertising and web design. I picked up a few books at the library on HTML and About Face ( a book on advertising appealing to emotions.)

365 Update

27.2.11

365 Updates....it's getting pretty hard to remember to take a picture every day. So that's the reason why there are a few pictures of the dog...she's my go to subject.

Photo UPdates

22.2.11

The past week or so here in the 'ham has felt like spring. It has been in the mid 70's, with no humidity. It has been perfect. It makes me want to take back everything bad I've ever said about Alabama (but then I remember the Kid Rock concert, and I'm not so sure.)
This weekend we get to go to K & A's down in Auburn. We haven't seen those two since they got hitched, and we get to finally see their place. I'm excited for maybe a trip to the Supper Club? I mean I still have my membership card.....might as well put it to use.

This stuff is soooo good. It almost doesn't bother me that a Real Housewife came up with it. Get rich how you can, I guess.

Baby's out of town. I pretty much eat eggs, cereal or hot dogs when he's gone.

This is my grandmother's butterfly magnet. My sister and I took them off her refrigerator after her house had been cleaned out after her funeral, and all that was left were these little butterflies. I love this little red butterfly.

Day 63

20.2.11

Last night we went to a Kid Rock concert. And no, I am not kidding you. We pretty much went for the opening act, Jamey Johnson, but ended up sort of enjoying the Kid Rock. Well, the older stuff anyway. He opened up with a few of his older hits (the better stuff) and then the whole thing got weird. Let me put it to you this way...we left early. And the people behind us were smoking pot. And I am not kidding about that. I'm surprised the in-laws weren't high when we left....but they didn't even seem to notice.

I was so hoping for some Bawitdaba, but I settled for some American Badass.

Week Away

29.1.11

so the competition is a week away. i am so nervous, it's ridiculous. at least the costumes came in, which is the thing i was worried the most about. well, i lie about that. i was worried about them coming in, and then them fitting. but they did both. even though the blue one?? a little skankier than i remember seeing. out of the 4 pictures below, three of them are taken at the house. i apologize. i said i would stop that, but it's really hard when you're busy at work to remember to do it. or to remember to pick up your camera in the morning. i will try harder i promise. but i did get some good aperture practice shots in.

cannot go wrong with pizza for dinner, especially when it's got veggies on it!

i was really aiming for the old chevy in this pic, but got a decent shot of the alabama theater too.

packer bear. he is as old as me. he is super excited for the super bowl next sunday!!

the cookies made for the hubs today.

"sunset over penske"

latin dress. hanging...waiting for me....
i don't know if anyone has been searching through target lately looking for some make-up, but they have this new brand e.l.f. most everything on this shelf is just $1.00!! i couldn't believe it. eye liner, eye shadow, lip gloss, make-up brushes, mascara. if you haven't seen it yet, and you're ok with wearing $1.00 eyeliner (it works just as good as my almay!), you should check it out.
