Braves Baseball

25.4.14

Two weeks ago, I got to go to two Braves games in a week!  I got to go to the home opener (which I've never done!) and then went to a Saturday night game.

The first game on Tuesday was a bit chilly, but the Saturday night game was a shirt and shorts kind of night.  They lost their home opener, but won Saturday night.  Even Freddie Freeman hit a home run.  It was incredible.  Plus I got to spend both games with very old friends of mine.  Home opener was spent with my very best friend in the whole world, Robin.  Second game I got to see with my second oldest friend in the world, Brett.

Every time I see these people, it breaks my heart just a little.  I am so glad that I have both of them, and am so sad when I have to leave them.  I don't get sappy about high school friends, but for these two I would. Sometimes I really think that they know the true me; they saw me go through the awkward phases, make mistakes, and just love.  Love, in general.  It was great.

So baseball... love it in person, not so much anywhere else.  And if you're a Southern girl and you don't Tomahawk chop...shame on you.

Atlanta is only 2 1/2 hours away, so this is definitely an awesome thing to do during a fun weekend.  Plus, I would go to a Friday night game (fireworks) or Saturday (only because the sun is down!).  Sundays are the worst, because a 1pm game in July doesn't sound like that much fun for me.  Or anyone who hates severe heat and humidity.

It's getting to be that time guys!  100 million percent humidity!  Have a good weekend y'all!

My Pretty Friend Rachel...

25.11.13

this past weekend, my pretty friend Rachel came in from Atlanta to spend some time with me.

Rachel and i met and became friends in sort of a weird way.  we dated the same guy.  i went to high school with the dude, but "dated," and i decided to add quotations, because i should be using that term loosely, but we "dated," after college.  he dated miss Rachel sometime in college.  after a facebook conversation, she started to not like me too much.

fast forward to six years later, where i see her again for the first time at a Braves game with lo and behold, mr dated man, and we click.

just click.  and although she's way smarter than me, we both share a lot of interests; in those including a love of delicious beer, Bruce Springsteen, and hair products.

she's a little crazy, but she balances out my quiet reserved side.

those things she's about to devour are the boudin balls at J Clyde.

they are amazing.

and i had a super fun weekend with her.  i'm hoping to get to do it again sometime, except spend the weekend in the big ATL.

Cigar Bar - Bar Celebration

30.10.13

This past weekend I went to Atlanta.  I got to share in the celebration of one of my friends passing the GA bar.

Hooray for you, Rachel!

So how did we celebrate?  Champagne, scotch, cigars, fancy meats and cheeses and dancing.  It really was a great time in Atlanta.  One day I will move back there.  So I'm gonna cop out and just share the pictures.

Hope y'all enjoy.

These girls were super fun.  I hope to get to hang out with them more!

Love you guys!!

Atlanta Love

21.8.13

Going back home to Atlanta is always bittersweet for me.  That is truly the one place I allow myself to call home.

Yes, I was born in Wisconsin, and yes, I've lived in Alabama for longer than I lived in Atlanta, but I just can't bring myself to say that I'm from anywhere else but the great Peach State.  That's where I went to elementary, middle and high school.  That's where I met the two friends that I still talk to, and that you'll see in this picture.

Robin -- one of my best friends since 1998.  I love that sweet girl possibly more than anything in the world.  She's got two precious kids (seriously!  We went to lunch with them on Sunday...pretty well-behaved kids!), and a really sweet husband.

Brett -- I've known him since 1998, but didn't really get to know him until later in high school, stayed friends through college, had a fling after college, and still talk to each other.

Seeing these people makes me realize how much I miss being home.  Even the thought of going to see my old theater where I worked brought a strong wave of nostalgia.

So going to a Braves game made it even worse.  I did that so many times while I lived there, it's impossible to not feel just a little bit sad.  Warning* Picture heavy post.

Me and Brett.
What's a baseball tailgate without some beer pong??

Brett!!

Me, Robin and Brett.  My high school reunion.

Even though I look like a complete damn nerd in this last picture, it is definitely my favorite of the night.

15 innings of fun with these folks makes for a definite homesick feeling.

Have You Ever..

19.8.13

met three girls who just can't seem to get a picture right?

Well, I'm about to introduce you to them.

It's me, Robin and Rachel,

And for some reason at the Braves game on Saturday night, we couldn't seem to get a decent picture.

I'm not going to say it was the million beers we had at the Chop House, but more likely the million beers that our photographer had.

I don't remember who took the pictures, but it is kind of amazing that a single one did not turn out ok.

Want proof?

Here ya go.

Did I mention how nasty rainy it was?  Hence the horribly gross curly hair.  I think it needs cut; it's sort of making me angry.

I'm not really sure what we were laughing at so hard that we just couldn't pull it together.

So there ya have it; three girls that couldn't get it together to take one single photo.

Good job girls; I love you guys.

Sweet Water Brewery (ATL)

17.4.12

Break time again from the 10 day challenge.  I can't focus on this damn thing even if you paid me.  Which no one does, so we're good there.

But I was going through my phone pictures and came across the ones of the SweetWater Brewery tour that we took while in Atlanta one weekend.  Of course visiting Mecca (IKEA), and enjoying local burgers at Vortex (there's also some pictures from here, although, they were after a few drinks, and are kind of unnoticeable, but don't worry.  I will explain what you're sort of looking at).

So we get to Atlanta to do the brewery tour, which is $10 and gets you a glass with 6 tickets to sample.  And trust me, this wasn't some wine tasting amount.  They pretty much filled your glass, so you were good and tipsy while walking out.  But don't get too tipsy, because, of course, they did have cops on hand.  And you could tell they were just waiting for someone to trip on the stairs (how cruel!) walking out.  It was freezing, and we had to wait in line outside to get in.  Once in, you are packed in there.  Although, all the beer for $10 made it quite worth it.  Here are some pics from the actual brewery...
1.  The sign over the walk-in cooler that housed all the glorious beer.
2.  one of the many kegs...
3.  the dank tank...they make so much of one special beer a month, and when it's gone, it's gone.  a limited edition beer, if you will.
4.  and the hippie van.  gotta love it.

1.  skeleton on a motorcycle.
2.  coaster, with my drink peeking in.
3. pic of the menu, you know, for proof.
4.  beer cooler.  they had lots.
5.  horseradish burger.  i have a love affair with horseradish.  and when you put bacon on it, i might as well have died right there.

All in all, it was a successful Atlanta trip.  Came back with a brand new media console (amazingness, can't even tell it's IKEA.  we reassure it daily that it could totally pass for pottery barn), a new area rug, and some sweet little trinkets that went into the extinct yellow room (pics to come on how that room turned out, because I am pretty proud of it).

And of course, any night that can end with New Orleans jazz music and a Red Bull and vodka is a pretty great night!

I'm obsessed...

17.10.11

Okay. I know. I have been a terrible blogger. I even got harassed by the husband, so you know it's bad.

A couple weeks ago we went to Atlanta. To do what you may ask?

To see the Packers! Ugh, I know. But the chance to see Aaron Rodgers in the flesh? I'll take it. And get this. I found out that his little brother is the quarterback at Vanderbilt. Which is in Nashville. Which is only 3 hours away. And my total in to the Rodgers family.

Umm...kidding. Maybe.

Anyway!! We made the short 2 1/2 trip to the Georgia Dome to see my favorite NFL team. We were only 20 some odd rows up in the end zone. We also went to a great little Irish place that claimed it had the best fish and chips in Atlanta. I'm not sure what other places have them, but they were so good, I really forgot to take the picture.

But enjoy the pictures that I did take!! And I hope that y'all are doing well! I have missed the little bloggy world!!
I am starting to seriously hate the hair. I miss the long-ness.

The fish 'n chips place. Yums.

Clay Matthews' booty. #52 in case you were wondering.

The boys.

There they are again!

And again.

They are now 6-0. Take that Chicago!
