Rut Me Up

21.7.14

Very rarely do I get all serious and/or complainy on the blog for one main reason.

No one cares.

I mean, people want to read about the bad ass concert you went to or the sweet necklace that you just bought/won/were given.

But back in the ole days of the blog, I would write about whatever was on my mind, as an outlet for the thoughts, whether they be sad/happy/angry -- anything.

So I feel like I can freely admit on this thing that I, Laura, am in a rut.

A feeling good about myself rut -- a being happy at work rut -- what have you.  Just stuck.  My workouts don't seem to be working lately; my hair always seems to be a mess and my makeup never seems to go on right anymore.  Like WTF liquid black eyeliner; I don't need you all over my face, mmk?  Perhaps now that I've older I've lost that steady hand that I so desperately need to not make myself look like a middle schooler experimenting with makeup.  And ever since I turned 30, it's like my metabolism gave me the big middle finger, and was like, yep, I'm doing working for the rest of your life.  And then work.  Don't even get me started on that....  I feel like I'm on the losing end of a battle there.  Every day lately.

And I know that I haven't been very active in the blog world, but it still hurts my feelings when I lose a follower.  Maybe my pictures aren't good enough, or I don't write about anything useful.  Maybe a combo of the two?  See, rut.

I thought the questioning of yourself was supposed to be over after college...errrr, at least eight years later.

Anyway, at least this face is always there for those sweet eyes and a good look.

Sorry for the depressing ass post -- it'll pass.

Stella Selfies

30.5.14

My dog loves selfies.

Of course I'm lying: Stella hates having her picture taken.  In fact, I swear she actually knows when it's happening.  If she's doing something cute, she'll stop immediately.  If she's looking at the camera, she will look away at the very last minute.

Last week I did an experiment to prove my point with this dog.  Although, while I did get some super cute ones, most of them turned out terrible.

She even yawned right in the middle of one.  Crazy dog.

If you have any tips on how to make your dog not look like a complete idiot in pictures, please let me know.

She really is super cute in real life, I promise!!

Also, I'm jetting off to New Orleans this weekend for Oyster Fest!  Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Snow Day Hobby

17.2.14

During my snow day last week, I needed to figure out something to do to pass the small lulls in my day.  Because even though the demands of truck drivers are constant, every once in a while, the stars align and the angels start singing, and there is a moment of silence.

So I came up with a game.

Let's torture the dog with excessive picture taking!!  She doesn't like her picture being taken.  She actually doesn't like a whole lot of anything.

She's kind of a chicken.  She hates baths.  She hates loud noises.  She barks at nothing and everything.  While every other dog in puppy training class was using the clicker to train, Stella said no way.  We had to resort to snap training.

I do see dogs that appear to love having their picture taken.  This sweet little ball of fur is not one of them.

I look so hot working from home.

"Really, mom?"

The whole day she pretty much insisted on helping me with work.  Every time she decided she was going to put her head on my computer was when I decided she needed a picture.

She is so blasted cute though, so it was really hard to mind that head on my lap top.

Snow Day! Again...

13.2.14

While snow days equal fun for children, they don't so much equal the same amount of fun for adults.  When you're adult, your place of employment makes sure that you are 100% prepared for having to work from home.

All those damn responsible adults.  How did they all get put into one place?

Last night, they were calling for just a little bit of snow.  But lo and behold, I look out the window and there is three inches (that's a lot down here folks!) of snow sitting on the ground!   No way!  Cut to the grabbing the jacket, scarf, boots and dog and I'm out playing in the white stuff!  It was good snow; the kind where you can make a bad ass snowball and throw it at the dog.

Not animal abuse, people, she loved it.  This dog goes bananas in the snow!

But then the fun ends, and you come to the realization that you indeed are going to be holed up in the house for a whole day trying to work!  Oh, the distractions!!  But I made it through the day (barely), and even managed to take some pretty pictures this morning!

I'm sure that having sweet pictures of a dog in snow is way better than children.

I'm also sure that I need a chiropractor after sitting the way I did all day.

Pinterest Fail

6.2.14

You wanna know how I suck at life?

Because Pinterest tells me so.  Every rare few weeks, I'll bake or make something that I see on Pinterest.  I'm always, like, hey!  That looks easy enough.  And then things like this happen.

I saw a bunch of people doing this on the site with their puppies, and I really wanted to do it!  I am no photographer, as evidenced by my amazing iphone camera skills, but I thought there really can't be anything to this!  It has to be easy.

Wrong.

Welcome to my Pinterest fail.

Besides the glorious space heater and amazingly glorious blur on most of these, we should probably feel the most sorry for Stell Dog.  You can just see the terror in her eyes.

Promise to you, dog:  I won't do this again until I know what I'm doing.

You're welcome.

You Mean I Haven't Done a Post in Awhile with Stella Pictures?

19.11.13

So you know that Google commercial where the mom is trying to get a hold of her son to let him know that his puppy is not doing so well?

Ugh, tears for days.

Anyway, I figured that this blog needed some more pictures of my sweet girl, so here you go.  Love this silly dog!

Football Season

10.9.13

I wasn't a big fan of the prompt today for Blogtember, sooo, I'm not going to do it.  Not that I didn't miss last Friday or yesterday or anything.  Otherwise, I might be a little upset.

But I haven't kept up with it, so I'm not, and I can talk about football, and that's way cooler.

It's again, no secret to anyone who knows me and/or has read a past post of mine that I love football season and everything doing with it; the navy dresses with cowboy boots and orange jewelry; the bourbon and cokes at 9am, chick-fil-a breakfast, and of course, actually enjoying the game of football.

My dad taught me pretty much everything I know about football, and for a girl, I grasp the concept of the game pretty well.

I've been trying to learn more specifics about the game, specifically certain plays and how they're run and what they look like when they're being called.

This was the first year in a long time that I've missed the Auburn home opener; I had to work that morning, and it just wasn't in the cards.  I was pretty heartbroken over it, but had a good time watching it at home.  Even though they almost gave me a heart attack by almost losing.

I'm pretty sure she wanted me to die after all these pictures, but come on?  Shaker and dog?  Not going to pass up that opportunity.

Auburn ended up winning their first two games; my poor Packers were not as lucky.  They lost on another blown ref call (seriously, ref demoted!  No joke!), and it was very sad.

Hopefully they'll play better this week!  Here's to hoping everyone has a happy football season full of W's and bourbon!
