Anni Number Four

1.7.13

This past Thursday (June 27th!) was our four year anniversary.  To be honest, sometimes I'm thrilled that we've made it four years.  When they say that marriage is work, they sure aren't kidding.

One of our favorite activities to do together is to travel and try new things; and we try to take trips, eat new food, try new drinks at whatever we're doing.  We love to be around people; love sports, and love dogs.

We're different people personality wise, but for some reason seem to fit together just fine.  Anyway, instead of fancying it up, which is just not us, we did one of our favorite things to do; Pizza and Beer, followed by a night cap.  Of course, we went to Slice and enjoyed our yummy local beers, then went across the street to Lou's, where we tried a 150 year old, yes 150 year old, Grand Marnier.  It was the anniversary, so we splurged just a little bit.  Enjoy some pictures of our night!

We take impromptu photo shoots when we're waiting for our food.  My iphone sucks at the turn-around camera thing or I seriously need to work on my skills.

I'm excited for my short week and for my dad coming into town.  Also can't wait to spend the Fourth with him and some work friends . It's going to be great!

Old & Boring

5.6.13

I feel as I get older, that I'm becoming more and more boring.  I really don't want to go out every night; I rarely even want to go out anymore.

I'll do it every once in a while, but I feel that "ugh, I went out last weekend, do I really have to do it again?" has become a commonplace phrase in this house.  I would much rather sit at home, watching reruns of The First 48 or some other crazy A&E show.  I've always enjoyed just hanging out with people at either our house or going to someone else's house.  Is this just something that comes with age?  I'm only 29, but for me, a night at home with the dog and the hubby and a bottle of wine is much more fun than spending $6 a pop for a vodka and soda.

I mean, wouldn't you want to spend all of your days with the two of these guys?  I know that I would.  It's especially becoming more and more important as work becomes more and more unbearable.

Maybe that's another reason why staying at home just seems more appealing; there is a good possibility that after dealing with people all day at work, I'm just not sure I can take it any more after 5pm.

I guess it's not so bad to hang out with these two all the time.  They do tend to make my life way more enjoyable.

5 Reasons

29.5.13

why I love this man....

(I like to remind myself of these every so often)

1.  He cooks for me pretty much every night, and doesn't ever make me feel bad that I can't do it.

2.  He hung up on iPad holder thing in front of my treadmill, so I can watch TV while I'm running.  Which I've found out is a way better option than always listening to music.  It definitely helps with the trying to forget I'm running part.

3.  He pretty much lets me drink wine whenever I want.

4.  He puts up with my clothing/hair accessories/Pinterest/nail polish obsessions and rarely says anything about it.

5.  He sometimes lets me think I know what I'm talking about, even though sometimes I know I have no clue and fake it anyway.

and a bonus....

He lets me complain about and talk about my job as much as I want.  Sometimes he'll add his input, but most of the time, he'll just listen.  And most of the time, that's all I need.

So to you, sweet B, for being the unfortunate person on this planet that has to deal with me.  I sure do love you a lot.

#tbt; Friends Before Love

16.5.13

Sorry about the short hiatus; I was training in Cedar Rapids for my new job.  Same work place; just a promotion!  I know; less than two years, and two promotions at this place.

Then there's Penske, where it took three years for one.  Anyway, that's where I've been all week, and with my forgetfulness, I forgot to bring my iPad, so no blog posts.

But here we are at throw-back Thursday again, and since I missed my hubby so much, I wanted to put old pictures of us on here, PRE-dating in Birmingham (well except for one).  I usually like to start out B and mine's story by telling everyone that I did not like him.

We worked together at Ruby Tuesday, and I honestly thought he was the cockiest person I'd met.  But he became good friends with my then best friend, so we were sort of forced to hang out together.  I had obviously gotten over my hatred in the following pictures...

1.  From one of our Ruby's parties...oh there were quite a few.
2.  Cassie's Halloween party.  Obviously B was way too cool to dress up . Even I could afford the $6 black cat kit at Wal-Mart.
3.  The very first picture that I have of B and I together.  I, for some reason, loved that dorky pink belt I was wearing.
4.  Lastly, this is one after we started dating at an AU football game.  Yes, my hair was that blonde, and yes, B still had bangs.

All in all it's been a great trip; next month makes four years.

It was hard to be away from him so much this week, and today was the only day we had together all week.  Tomorrow he's off to NOLA, and I'm off to KC.  At least this weekend won't be spent in a corn field.

Sights of California - as through B

26.3.13

As one of B's last trips, he got to travel to California.  I can't tell you how jealous I was.  I only wish I would have had more vacation at work, because it would have been really nice to travel there.

My family lived in Yorba Linda when I was really young, and that was the last time I've been out there.  I just want to travel.  I want to make it to everywhere.  You are only put on this planet for a short amount of time, and I'm all about getting every ounce out of it that you can.  Sometimes you have to do the responsible thing, but I will be kicking myself for not coming down with some super bug during this travel week.

Like any good hubby of a blogger, he took pictures of the food that he ate (which will come later.  He has to be willing to sit next to me for an entire blog post for that one to happen), but he did get some really great shots of his surroundings.  I hope you get to live vicariously through these pictures, like I did.

I can't wait to show some of the food from his trip.  That guy is not afraid to eat anything.

Valentine's Done Right..

18.2.13

I am aware that I am late in posting these pictures.  I mean, I could have done it on Friday, but no.  I didn't want to, so you get it now.

B did a great job for Valentine's Day.  He pretty much always does.  As you know, the boy can cook.  First he surprised me with some goodies from The Naked Art Gallery.

A cute little fridge magnet made from a bottle top and a picture of some graffiti with a cute twist.  All of these are courtesy of local Birmingham artists and things I was currently coveting.

Snuggling with my furry Valentine...

Really yummy steak (cooked medium rare, delish!) from Publix topped with a shrimp alfredo sauce.  With the best garlic bread on earth and broccoli...

And for dessert...

The cupcake on the left is the Grapico cupcake.  I have talked about this thing, and I finally got it!!  And it was sooo worth the wait.  And the one on the right is the Hunka Hunka Burning Love.  Banana cupcake with peanut butter frosting topped with bacon pieces . It does not get any better than this you guys.

B didn't make out too bad either.  Although I did lose his card ( I'm pretty sure I took it into work, and then it just disappeared), he did get these...

Collar stays with a sweet reminder that he is awesome.  I figured during rough days or tough interviews or what not, he could always use a reminder...

It was great to celebrate with a good meal, a bottle of wine and settling into Big Bang Theory when all was said and done.  I do love that guy, that's for sure.

Mirror Makeover

11.2.13

In addition to smaller projects like the spray painting of my artichoke lamp, we also decided we wanted to do something to spruce up our bathroom.
Wanna know a secret?  Maybe not so much a secret, as I've said it before, but there is only one bathroom in our entire house.  We (and when I say, we, I mean B) never thought that it would work.  I tend to be a little on the messy side; I leave my bed clothes on the bathroom floor; I leave out pretty much every ounce of makeup I put on my face on top of our counter.  So you can imagine my B's disbelief when I told him that I promised I would take care of the bathroom.
I haven't.  So I guess he was right.
Anyway, we replaced the lights in the bathroom as our first project in there.  We had always wanted to do a frame around the mirrors, but they are glued pretty tight to the wall, and are pretty damn close to the wall and the counter.
So we decided to do something that would look like a frame, but A.  would be cheaper and B.  wouldn't be pulling perfectly good wall out of our house just to frame a mirror.  We headed to Lowe's for some single tile, and stuck them on the mirror.  Best.  Idea.  Ever.  It looks just like a frame!  Both of us absolutely love it.

Before mirrors (notice that my clothes have spilled onto B's counter, right picture) and also notice all the crap on my counter (left picture).

And see the cleanliness in these pictures?  Sometimes it's awesome to be married to a neat freak.  Doesn't it look fantastic?  We love how it just almost matches the tile on the counter, but not quite.  B did an awesome job making sure all the pieces fit perfectly.

That man.  Sometimes he's just so dang handy.

Philly - Through the Eyes of a Hubby

31.1.13

My husband does not take pictures of everything like I do.  As much as I try to get him to get into this blog thing, he just doesn't seem to want to.

At one point in time, I thought I had him talked into at least writing a post or two every now and then, but that fantasy didn't last long.  I have told him that he has the best job to take pictures; next month he's traveling to Canada, San Marcos and Los Angeles.  What better job to take pictures of everything?  I know that if I had that job, my blog would be twenty times more interesting.  But alas, my job is full of trucking and telephone calls, and not fun traveling, so I have to rely on him to take pictures of things.

So during our trip to Philly, he did happen to snap a few...

That last picture is from a bar that I'm pretty sure had the name rooster in it.  And if you've seen my kitchen, you know I looooove roosters.  I'm kinda mad that guy's jacket was in the way; or I'm mad that I was too lazy to get up and take a picture around it.  Either, way, you can sort of tell that it's a rooster.

I have threatened B's life if he doesn't take any good pictures while in California.  Because I'm sure that I won't be headed there any time soon.

I do love my crazy little  B.
